Partridge on the Hill
Summer afternoons on Field Hill featured a number of eastbound passenger trains with one or more helper engines for the twisting fourteen mile climb to the Alberta border. Three quarters of a mile past the Upper Spiral Tunnel a section of the Dominion is about to pass the west switch of Partridge Siding, named after Seth Partridge, the fireman who risked his life to awaken and save sleepers at Yoho Station from a rockslide in 1925.
